Discover your Strengths with Pastor Tim

Are you an Activator or a Relator?  Strong in Competition or an Includer with Empathy?  Maybe all five!  StrengthsFinders can help you get clarity about your strengths.

I took the StrengthsFinders inventory in the spring of last year and it has been such a great help to me - I wish I had done it years ago!  Let me give you just one example.

The inventory identified my top strength as “Strategic” which is described as a “…distinct way of thinking (that) allows you to see patterns where others simply see complexity...”   (That is so true of me!)  One suggestion the inventory offered was to take time to reflect and muse about things until the patterns begin to emerge.  “Remember that musing time is essential to strategic thinking.”  Not only did SF give me language to name and claim my strength, but it finally helped me to “give myself permission” to simply spend time thinking.  That’s been a struggle for me, since it doesn’t always look like productive work.  But the SF inventory has helped me to honor that as an important part of how I use the gift God has given me in my “Strategic” abilities!

I want to encourage ALL of you to consider taking this inventory and I have a great opportunity for that coming up very quickly.  On Sunday, March 7th right after worship a group of folks will be taking the inventory together down at the Gethsemane computer lab.  It will take about 40 minutes and costs $13 for the book/online access code.  (Scholarships available!)  You will get a printed report with all kinds of great information and suggestions for working with your top 5 strengths.  Then on Sunday, March 14th, again, right after worship, we will gather for a conversation to share what we’ve learned about ourselves and how we can use these strengths at home, at work and wherever the Lord has up placed in our vocations.

If you would like to take the inventory, please let me know right away so I can have a book available for you!  (TThompson@Geth.org or 651-739-1264 x102)
